I have a natural hormonal imbalance that has been there since puberty which causes me to have "too much" testosterone in my body. I have just recently started to feel the need to explore the male side of me but I am pre-menopausal. I am not quite to the point that I want to take hormones to increase the already extra testosterone in my body but I was wondering how menopause was going to affect my transition. I already have enough testosterone that causes me to grow facial hair faster than a genetic male.

`Well you sound like one lucky guy then, most of us would kill to grow facial hair. lol This is what I believe, not 100% on it. But when your body goes through menopause it basically stops creating tons of estrogen, not sure if it just stops completely or just decreases substantially. So your body should be creating more Testosterone, I would assume. Really if I was you and you were considering transitioning I would make an appointment with a Endocrinologist. They deal with hormones, and in fact would be the doctor you would be seeing if you start on Testosterone. You can ask them all the question about that, cause I imagine they would have an answer for you. Now if you do consider getting more T, then you would have to see a therapist first for three months who would then have to say you are indeed transsexual and would forward you to the Endocrinologist to start you on that path.

...The person above me doesn't know what they're talking about, just FYI.
Having a higher than normal level of testosterone in your body won't really affect your transition in any way. You'll still probably want to go on hormones (though at a lower dose than most of us) in order to get some of the more prominent affects, like a change in distribution of body fat, and a gain of muscle mass.
Of course, if you don't want to go on hormones, you're not required to. I don't really understand what you mean about "how will it affect my transition" since, well, everyone's transition is different. It all depends on how you want to go about it.

Actually, Sebastian was correct. It does take three months (in the US) to talk to a therapist and get approval to get hormones. And an endocrinologist, who specializes in hormones, would be the best choice to converse about hormone options with.
To be honest I don't know how menopause will affect it. I'm fairly certain that menopause is a drop in estrogen and slight increase in Testosterone, which would explain hot flashes, moodiness, and increased S-- drive.
I'm not sure why you're concerned about menopause, unless you're wanting to procreate before time runs out. If that's the case, you may even have to take estrogen to effectively carry a child to term (my mother almost had to for me, which makes me wonder if that is why I came out trans*). If rearing children is not a part of the equation then I would say to not worry about menopause, and that taking Testosterone basically speeds up the process of hitting it.
