Identifying as someone who fancies women (in your case, a lesbian) might be an issue if you want to be with someone who identifies as male (in this case, a trans man).

Likewise, I'm MTF and if a gay identified man wanted to be with me, I wouldn't be interested. That is because he would still be reading me as a man. :-(

`Not true. I identify as a lesbian but want to be with a FTM and would then identify as straight.

If I said I was straight then I would be hounded with bio males wanting my number and I want NOTHING to do with bio men. So what label am I suppose to go by???

Bisexual...... that would still give me the same issues. Bio men.

Why are people so stuck on labels? Let love just be love. Who cares what your "label" is. Everyone here should not be in any position to judge.

Grats Alexis.

Sexuality is what you prefer. If you are a lesbian that means you prefer women. But that doesn't mean you'll only date women. It's okay to date a guy and still identify as a lesbian.

If it bothers you though you could identify as bisexual or pansexual.

However, as a transman I wouldn't want to date a lesbian because that would make me feel judged as a female, which I am not. As long as your boyfriend is okay with it, and you're okay with it, that's all that really matters.

But I must clarify that dating a man is still dating a man, regardless of if he's trans or cisgender.
