Everyone on Trans Passions is welcome to their own opinion.

Regardless of one's opinion though, it is against the rules to belittle other members by name calling.

With regards to the 'Shemale' issue, we've gone over this numerous times...but once more, the term 'Shemale' is a common term in MANY areas of the world, and it NOT derogatory in those areas. It is just the term that is used for Transsexual MTF's.

While it is derogatory, or '---- related' in other areas of the world, we do not prevent its use for the reason we have already explained. It just would not make sense to large numbers of people if that term was not available as a descriptive term within this site.

We go to great efforts to give members a number of different options on how they want to describe themselves within the 'Groups' area...meaning, one isn't forced to use the term 'Shemale'.

This issue does not even make sense to someone from the Philippines, as 'Shemale' is just a descriptive term.

Regardless of what any few individuals may think, this site is not going to become a site focused on s----l activity.

We have rules in place regarding overtly s----l usernames, descriptions and forum posts.

If anyone wants to report a possible violation of the TOS (Terms of Service), we have REPORT buttons everywhere. They are in the forum area next to each post. They are in the email area, directly within every email you receive. They are at the bottom of every profile page.

So...with all that being said, we will also say that we are not prudes. This is a site for adults who are 18 years and older, and we are not going to slap down (or delete) every member who uses the word 'h----'.

We are pretty clear about our rules, and the site has been functioning nicely for over 8 years. Nothing has changed.

If anyone ever has a problem with a particular member, or forum post...report them. We review EVERY report. We may not agree, and we may not do what you want us to do...but we promise to look into any report because we are trying to protect our site.

Once again, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and we don't expect everyone to agree with everything we do...but we are trying to look out for all of our members.

Thanks,
Cool

`Yes I see the point you make. It all makes perfect sense, like the term " niger" is acceptable in certain cultures. Yet we should be be more tolerable of these cultures and their ignorance on the matter. We most definitely shouldn't be so narrow minded and educate them to not use use this term which widely believed as derogatory.

(The last thing I will add to this metaphor is that the term. "Shemale" is only acceptable because of western culture, they lacked translation from kahtoey, hydra and other such terms into the english language, so they adopted ladyboy or shemale, and those were terms forced on them by ----o graphic culture or old rich white men lookong to have a live in fantasy. The truth is the only way for things to progress is through education. That in fact is hapoening right now even for you site moderators can be humble at times too. That can gain them more in the long run, that is admitting that at times your not always right and that you to have learned something.

Ah...so people who use terms that some people in Western culture find offensive just need to be 'educated'.

Well, let's all go teach all those backwards people what right and wrong is then, shall we.

Oh, and aside from which words they use, should we tell them what they can and cannot eat (because some people in 'Western' culture find certain things to be gross or unacceptable in some way)?

What about which God 'they' worship? Do these 'heathens' just need a good missionary to visit them?

It is beyond egocentric to decide that just because a term is used, or perceived, negatively within 'Western' culture, that the term should not be used elsewhere in the world.

While the majority of our members are (currently) based in the U.S., we see large numbers of non-U.S. members and visitors as the site is growing.

As we have said (numerous times), we understand that some people in the U.S. are offended by the term 'Shemale'. If you are offended by that term then do not use it, and if you are so offended that you cannot even interact with someone who 'self-identifies' with that term...then do not interact with those people.

But do not try to dictate to anyone on this site that they should not have the OPTION to self-identify themselves using a term that THEY feel comfortable with, just because YOU do not like it.

This thread has veered so far off the original topic that this is the last post in here we are going to make regarding this issue. If anyone feels the need to argue/discuss this further, create a new thread.

Anything posted in this thread that is not DIRECTLY related solely to the original theme (ie. crossdressing), will be deleted.

Thanks,
Cool

`i am new to this site and fairly new to the cross dressing and maybe in time i would reveal my face. Right now i wouldn't want to because of legal issues that could or would not benefit me by doing so. I don't agree with johnnykash or kieratg. No one should be forced to reveal their face if they are not comfortable or for what ever other reasons they may have. After reading this post,i definitely don't feel comfortable here.and not sure i want to post and ask questions.
