Hallo ...
Some members might find the following Essays interesting ...
Quoting from one of them, Quote: Gender Identity Disorder, often gives people who present for treatment the notion
that the individual's gender identity is wrong and that therapy can fix it.
Gender identity is never right or wrong.
It simply is one of a broad range of qualities inherent in being human.

... just want to "bump" this thread back
into the "Latest forum posts" section of my profile ...
to make it easier for profile visitors to find this thread ...
seeing how (as far as I can tell ... so far) the PN forums
do not have any forum "Search by thread starter" functionality ...
nor any forum search functionality at all ...
(as far as I can tell ... so far) ...
and ...
the PN "Find Your" functionality is seemingly not working at all ...
(as far as I can tell ... so far) ...
and ... as a reminder ...
the PN forum "Notify me when a reply is posted" functionality
is seemingly (still) not working at all ...
(as far as I can tell ...) ...

Apparently "GID" is DEAD ...
so at some time in the future it will seem "archaic" for PN
to have this sub-forum named Gender Dysphoria/Gender Identity Disorder ...
I have also "heard" that "they" (the "experts" - who have never themselves
transitioned) will remove Gender Dysphoria from DSM-VI ...

`For me GID was dead a long time ago, as is GD beyond what it really is: a discourse between mind and body; my therapist and doctor never uttered GID, but then again they've worked with the community for years. I feel the move in DSM V (from GID to GD) is a token gesture because it still pathologizes non-binary identities. Fortunately Kenneth Zucker, the jackwagon most responsible for GID/GD remaining in DSM all these years, has either left or been removed (pause here for a quick happy dance), and nobody really takes Anne Lawrence seriously anymore. This could mean we might see GD out of the DSM V at the next revision...

FYI...we have deleted the Gender Identity Disorder (GID) Group.
Prior to deleting that Group, we moved all members from the Gender Identity Disorder (GID) Group into the Gender Dysphoria Group.
We based our decision on the following Gender Identity Disorder - Wikipedia page.
Thanks,
.
