Hi
to start things off i want to explain my situation. i have been a long time closet cd and am just begining to explore/consider that i may likely be transgendered. i have not taken any hormones or ever met with a therapist(not sure if i am ready or if i ever will), but lately i have been venturing out into public view as my fem self, mostly late at night.
well tonight as i was out walking sometime around 1am when i was "noticed" by a local police officer. i don't know if he read me or not and that is not whats important, he may have just seen me as a suspicious woman(because noone is out after midnight on week nights here. well anyway he drove by me 3 times all on differrent streets and everytime my heart raced and i did my best to play it cool and continue walking as a gg woman would.
Now the police in my town are WELL KNOWN for harassing people, people even joke that there are only 2 types of people in my town: those on probation and those awaiting their sentencing date. if they were to stop me in the future while i am out walking, as long as i am not drunk, jaywalking, vandalizing, and i am tastefully dressed etc. am i completely legal or are there places that public C/D is illegal. i was terrified that i would be stopped and arrested for doing nothing but walking. i might lose my job because my boss is a very old fassioned type who thinks that anyone who is different in either opinion or preference or in any way from himself is wrong.
i already decided that if i am stopped i would show my real id and admit what i am doing, but even doing that i might make the papers on a slow newsday in my town. is there anyway i could prevent a paper from printing my name if something were to happen.
i know this is really long but after the cop drove past me a few times my mind was racing as to what could possibly happen.
thanks in advance if anyone has any sort of answer,
kisses
Maggie

Hi Maggie,
To address your question, there is no law against crossdressing in public.
My Refrence Being = (removed)
Its not a solid refrence, but I cant find a site to show you that says in the books that it is perfectly legal for a man to wear a womens outfit.
Usually the problem is not the law but the people themselfs that present the problem. As the site I linked above mentions, the only place you could be in trouble is if you went into the other genders bathroom.
It was 1 so yeah usually around that time most of the cops are starting to hit the streets looking for people leaving the bars. I'd say dont be worried about it. So long as your doing everything legal of course.
This story is kind of weird but it is relevant.
I was pulled over one time, for hitting a curb (which didnt happen), and leading the officer to think I was driving under the influence. I was shaking so much since it was my first encounter with a cop that he asked me to step out of the car and perform a few tests. I got out of the car and he patted me down and noticed I was wearing a cami that I was still wearing underneath my regular shirt. As I performed the tests (walking white line), I gave him permission to search my car, and he found a top that I had switched out of earlier. He asked me who it belonged to and I told him it was mine straight out. He didn't care and said thank you for my time and sorry for the hastle he just was doing his job and making sure everyone was safe.
I wasn't exactly dressing in public, but thats the closest true story I can offer you to ease your worries. Just be honest and you have nothing to worry about. ^_^
Hope this helps ^_^
