new to site!

Hey all,

I just joined this site to network, make friends, and for help with a project that I hope might serve to enlighten others about the trans community. First, let me tell you briefly about myself. I am a college student in New York City majoring in photography, and have been working with a gay rights advocacy group for the past six months. As a senior I am working on a thesis, a photo thesis, and I have decided to focus on transgender individuals and their intimate relationships. Admittedly, I dont have any close personal ties with anyone who is transgender, except for a few co workers. And maybe for this reason I have been asked countless times by my peers, professors, and close friends why I have chosen this subject matter .. and I still dont necessarily have an answer. I am fascinated by ------ity, social constructions, identity, and all things beautiful (jeez, am I being dramatic yet? ha). And, I find a power through photography that creates a bond between photographer, subjects, and, perhaps most poignantly, viewers of images over time.
So. A favor to those who are reading: please send any and all advice my way. If you are interested or even thinking of being interested in being photographed please let me know! I would love to hear from you and give you a much better and more detailed idea of where the project is going. I am in New York City but have some ability to travel.
