I also remember the beaches being very polluted in areas, but this was years ago, and I've no idea what beaches we often visited. Lived there, done that. Of all the places I've visited, Seattle is still my top lister. I do want to see Boston though. I love traveling, so eventually.
Interestingly, I went to Boston quite a bit when I was a kid. My grandfather used to be a huge Red Sox fan, so he always took us kids to see them play at Fenway Park. It was boring for me, since I never liked sports, but it was cool to go and see the sights. I remember the time my mother took us to Filene's one year, and on the way the car broke down in probably the worst section of Boston you can imagine. Strip joints, bars, tenements, you name it! It was as bad as it gets. Well, the funniest part was, all the nice looking people just rode or walked by and didn’t lift a finger to help us get the car started again. But this big, bad, mean looking biker dude stopped, helped us out, and even escorted us out of the bad neighborhood, riding his Harley next to our car all the way until we were safe in better parts of town again. Then he yelled out: “Be careful now!” and rode off. He was actually all right! So you can never judge a book by its’ cover, that’s for sure. But one thing it taught me is you don’t ever want to get stuck in the worst part of any city. It rarely ends as well as it did for us. These days too, there would probably be the added risk of drive-bys and whatnot to worry about besides the usual. The tricky part with any city is that you really have to be careful where you are going, big time. When I was little we often went to the Boston Science Museum and had a great time, but there was this one time when I was a teenager and we went, and this was during the 80’s so the gangs were pretty out of control back then (and not just in the movies!). Ergo, the place had seriously changed for the worse. There was graffiti all over the walls, gang signs, swastikas… you name it, and all of it horrible… and these skinhead punks in leather jackets giving us dirty looks. So we just turned around, backed out, and got the heck out of dodge faster than you can say: “Chitika Fastpaws!” and that’s pretty fast. Never went back for another trip there that was quite bad enough. Some places improve with time, other places just get a LOT worse. I don’t know how things are in those places today though. I know my hometown used to be a literal ghost town back in the 80’s when the factories closed, local small businesses shut down for a lot of years, and the local gangs got out of control. Things eased up once they elected a mayor and canned the selectmen though, the guy might be a bit of a moron but at least he managed to bring businesses back to town, got rid of the gangs (for the most part) and cleaned the place up as good as can be expected for any small town. Now our town is a city, has a LOT of traffic, tons of visitors, and isn’t that bad a place really all things considered. But wow, those trips to Boston did not leave me with the best impression of the place, sadly. Same thing with my trips to Springfield too! I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed by the huge buildings. Guess I’m just a small town girl at heart! Give me Silent Hill over Gotham City any day. * Wink * Lol.

`lol Gotta love Silent Hill. xD I'm kinda in between I guess. Lived in both large and small cities/towns, and have no preference either way. If I moved anywhere near Boston, it wouldn't actually be Boston, but a little town to the west about an hour's train ride. But that's an if. Still got my eye on Seattle before I start looking at MA again, even though I love the east coast. Either place is good for the tg community though, in some respects, and comparably speaking as opposed to my current location. We just don't have the open minds or resources here. Like I said, only reason I would stay or ever come back is my tiny little family here. But even they are looking for a way to move, so that might change.
