New Messages?? Where?

I get emails that look like this:

You have a new comment on your profile! Public comments can be seen without logging in. Private comments require you to log in to view them.

But I can't see them either when I'm logged in or when I'm logged out!!

What's going on? Help!

The 'alert' you are receiving is being sent because someone has left a message on your profile page.

If it is a public message, it will appear to anyone viewing your profile page.

If it is a private message, you will be the only person to see it, and only after logging in.

If the message is not there, either the 'poster' deleted it after the 'alert' went out to you, or the 'poster' deleted their account (or was deleted from the network)...in which case their messages were deleted along with them.
