Posted: Post subject: Getting into BARS/CLUBS with a ID that says your MALE. |

I really want to go out to clubs dressed up but I feel like I'm almost a little too passable and the bouncers usually give me trouble with my ID. I've actually had to do things at the door to prove I'm biologically male to get into the places I want. Has anyone had any experiences like this or have any tips to dealing with it...?

`Get a big old' burly boyfriend to go with you and ----ing regulate on them! Rofl laughing.... Damn I don't know, what's your birth name? Uh can't you pull the bouncer to the side and just nab a word with him? I mean if they give you to many problems maybe you shouldn't go to that club for a good reason. Know what I mean? Find another club where the bouncer isn't to much of a d---. Maybe bring a performance flyer with your picture on it to show the doorman to try and avoid anything. Just curious but what sort of things did they make you do?

You can't just change your ID till you get the surgery. You can get a name change but I'm sure she already went through that.
And no I never dealt with that. I have been told I am very passable as well but I've never had trouble when going clubbing. Worst thing I got was a couple confused looks but that was it

`Get a letter from a/your psychologist and shove that under their noses.
Over here we have genderteams at the hospital and such a letter is standard.
It says " is currently undergoing hormone treatment with the genderteam of and may present them self as a female"
(no idea if them self is a correct term since we have no him- or herself here which is kind of sweet in this case )

`for me, it's always been a matter of attititude. i doesn't matter that my id still says male on it, i'm an adult who's of age. it says so right there on the id! so what's the problem? and i usually ask, where is this over exaggerated sense of curiosity coming from? are you suffering through an episode of unmet need? it's usually around this time i get this look like "whatever!" and they don't wan't to screw with me anymore. in fact, they warn all the other staff to stay away. works every time, no matter where i am.

`She may not be able to change the gender marker on her ID, but she surely can go to her Secretary of State or DMV and get a new driver's license photo taken. When I first came out, I wanted to have 2 IDs, 1 as a male (Photo) and 1 as a Female (Photo). So, somehow.......)) My ID was stolen, and I came in to apply for a new one, and just said I was transitioning Male-to-Female and I needed a photo that reflected how I present myself in everyday life (Female). So, 2 weeks later I have a new DL with my girly girl photo on it. Then I got another one as soon as as I changed my legal name. But my old male ID is still good to use for buying things. And for a while, it did actually come in handy for a court date.
So, that is surely an option for you. In fact they have to allow you to take a new photo if you're full-time. Even if ur not full-time, don't matter.... "You LOST your male ID", and you need a new one. and you tell them that you're fulltime Transitioning and you need to take a photo which corresponds with how you appear in day to day life. Ba Ba Ba Bam, 1 guy, 1 girl ID... Best of both worlds, problem solved.
Hope this helps.

`At the end of the day, if it's your legit state ID, then they have to let you in. And 99% of the battles we (Trans Women) face day to day, can be won via "Mind over Matter". Attitude and Confidence go a LONG WAY!
Keep your Chin up missy

`I didn't know clubs there in the US check your I.D. I guess it's more lenient here in the Philippines. Anyone can get inside though most high-end clubs have entrance fees which people don't really mind paying as long as they get in.
Be bold...brazen...and face the bouncers with confidence and a little smile. Hope that works. That's what I do when I pass police checkpoints. It works all the time.

Yeah, the alcohol control boards will send people through either underage or with fake ID's and if that business gets caught it can add up to massive fines(up to $20,000) and the loss of their liquor license.

`Most tend not to say anything, because it is at the bottom in GA driver's licenses. More times than not, they are only looking at the birth year, which is at the top. They may look at you funny, if you haven't changed your name, yet and it's not a unisex one. If you see James on the ID card, and see a girl that looks like Pamela Anderson in front of you, they may say something, but generally let you in. Most clubs tend not be so @ssh*le-ish, especially in big cities or LGBT clubs.

`For what it's worth: I'm spending my money and I will dress how I want to dress. If someone at the door or register has a problem with how I look or the gender-letter on my license, I just take my business elsewhere. Seriously, half the time I get a curious or confused look and the other half people smile and say "thank you ma'am." I've never been refused entry or a purchase.

`The bouncer needs glasses besides he shouldnt judge you for yor s--. I have been a bouncer and age was about the only thing I worried about (except disruptive people looking for trouble).
